How to run Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now on Windows XP
Listening to Iron Maiden the day before yesterday I decided I wanted to enjoy some more of my high school years playing Carmageddon 2 on my PC. I searched around and came across the following solution in order to overcome the obvious compatibility issues.
Three easy steps to play Carmageddon 2 on Windows XP:
b Replace CARMA2_HW.EXE file found under C: Program Files Interplay Carmageddon 2 Carpocalypse Now with the one which can be obtained from here. It s an official patch from SCI.
c Unzip this file in the same folder glide2x.dll must be in the same folder.
Now you are ready to go, either by double clicking CARMA2_HW.EXE or changing the installation s shortcut s path to C: Program Files Interplay Carmageddon 2 Carpocalypse Now CARMA2_HW.EXE.

I Still have problems running Carma In the main Screen Where I have to choose the 3d driver for the Video card a 2008 geforce with new drivers appears only the windows driver which not playing If i choose the carmas software render from the upper selection the game runs with primitive display and finally stacks when the first race starts I thing that the problem is that there is no option for choosing the hardware video card installed although the drivers and the patch for the game are correctly installed. please help me to Drive again this really Awesome Hawk.
Unfortunately I don t know how you should cope with this problem. A friend of mine told me that he was able to properly run Carmageddon II on a linux box using Wine.

Utterly indebted to you sir, I now have ultimate nostagia gaming to while away the hours, will see if the map works, but not really bothered at the mo, all I wanna do is BRING SOME PAIN..

The patch didn t work. I tried playing, and the game only lets my mouse have access to a small square inside the game screen. Looks like your method doesn t work.

Hi i have changed everything as listed above, i load the game, but i only get as far as the pre-game screen, inbetween choosing the difficulty and the countdown starting. The music is playing, just the game seems to freeze. Is this normal, i have had to restart my pc everytime by switching it off at the mains. I have changed the settings to windows 95/98 and changed the screen res so the mouse works properly, is there anything else you could recommend.

i have this problem,,, i cant move too much the mouse in menu screen, is trapped in a invisible box,,, like a 640 800 box i think,,, and i change options in the compatibility but it doesnt work

What I did to make this work was to install it, apply the patch, deactivate the DEP function, apply compatibility mod xp and 650 x 480. After that it worked

I have a problem while im playing carmageddon, when i am playing it dont see the full screen, i cant see the right part of the screen, so i cant see the minimap etc. can anyone help me plz.

Hey all - sorry to say I m not having any luck. I m running Zeke s glide wrapper, and the demo runs amazing, but when I launch regular C2, the screen goes black and just hangs there forever. Any ideas. This game is amazing - again, many old memories. Thanks a ton.

i put in the compatiblity menu win 95 and run 640X480 have sound and mouse moves the mouse still looks funny but games runs great and have sound hope this helps

i did everything your post said, i also tried the whole run through dosbox method.but to no avail man. i am on windows 7 64 bit, i know thats what this one isnt for.but seriously.HOWWWW. haha when i open it it says gen i/o initialization error. i know a bit about computers bat thats one of those things that nobody knows.
any help man. ive been looking for this game for years now.
